This blog post is way overdue but it’s a big deal for me and I’m really excited to share this news (you have seen some things here and there starting in June when these courses went live) but everyone loves a little backstory, right? In a partnership with Prowess Project, they helped me bring online courses to fruition to LITERALLY let me reach more people in a time efficient manner: women, men, entry level to experienced…my advice translates to most general* job postings for positions that require a bachelor’s degree +. I can also help some that are working in the trades, healthcare and education. I have also helped with CVs.
WHY? I’m a self-proclaimed nerd and way too passionate about strong resumes. Most people cringe when they think of their resume.
Why do I care so much about resumes? Because I think everyone should have a great resume that they are proud of as it opens up doors for them. It also benefits their families and their communities.
Why do I care about LinkedIn? I also think people benefit from a strong LinkedIn profile. It can help you find new leads in your network, it can help you follow industry influencers and thought leaders, it can give you research and insights on job trends in your area or remote…you don’t have to be active on it every day but it can really enhance your job leads. Too much time on this social media platform (just like any other one) can also make you compare yourself to others so when that happens, be sure to log out.
What do I know about job searching? I want the world to know a successful process to job searching and finding a job they enjoy. NOTE: I did not say only finding a job you love. I will settle for something you enjoy and are fairly compensated for. There is a ton of free advice out there but it can be hard to narrow it down to what is really going to help you spend your time wisely to get from point A to point B. I have interviewed a ton, have over 20 years of professional work experience, have been offered at least 20 jobs, and I’ve been a career coach for almost 7 years at a top business school. I am really into this topic and probably like to talk and learn about it way too much.
Let me tell you a little bit about what went into this. I do actually really enjoy helping people through Cafe con Resume but as the pandemic dragged on and my daughter got older, I want to have more time with her, frankly. I don’t want to spend my evenings and weekends solely looking at resumes (sorry, no offense). SO, with the help of Prowess, we built online/on demand courses to literally walk you through my client process with my recruiter background/eyeballs. I can still take on 1:1 but hopefully I can help many more people this way due to time constraints and bandwidth limitations.
